PRP injections for hair loss

What is PRP?

PRP, short for Platelet Rich Plasma, is a potent solution derived from a patient’s own blood that is enriched with growth factors and essential proteins to stimulate hair regrowth.

PRP treatment is a safe and effective solution for a wide range of hair concerns, including

  • Alopecia
  • Male pattern baldness
  • Post-hair transplant recovery

Incorporating PRP therapy into your hair restoration journey can offer exceptional results.

NOT ALL PRP is the same. How The Hair Loss Clinic is different to other clinics.

PRP treatments is available in the UK , However there is a large variation in quality. Our PRP/PRF patented system use our unique method to produce higher concentration of platelets. which is 4-5 times higher than in blood and uses a Slow release method to further improve the results.

At The Hair Loss Clinic Manchester we recommend, that because of the complexity of Hair loss, you should come in for a private consultation, screening for treatable causes is essential and our medical Staff will discuss this with you.

PRP vs PRF

You might be wondering what the difference is between these two treatments. Here’s a comparison between the two treatments to help you choose the best suited one:

PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma)

PRF (Platelet-Rich Fibrin)

Both PRP and PRF are derived from a patient’s own blood, making them safe and minimally invasive options for hair restoration. However, PRP is typically preferred due to its higher concentration of growth factors and extensive research supporting its effectiveness for hair restoration. PRF is a newer treatment option that shows promise in promoting hair growth, but more research is needed to fully understand its benefits. Your doctor or hair restoration specialist can help determine which treatment is best for you based on your individual needs and the severity of your hair loss

Microneedling and Hair Loss Benefits

What is Microneedling?

Microneedling is a procedure where small needles puncture the skin to create micro-injuries. This stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, which can improve the overall health of your scalp.

How Microneedling Benefits Hair Loss

Microneedling on its own can benefit hair loss by stimulating blood flow to the scalp, which in turn promotes hair growth.

Combining Microneedling with PRP

Microneedling with PRP is a combination procedure where platelet-rich plasma injections are given after the activation of the scalp through the use of a microneedling device.

This helps to deliver the PRP solution deeper into the scalp, resulting in more hair growth.

Here’s a few ways in which we can determine what is causing your hair to thin

  1. Inspection of the scalp for inflammation, scaling and erythema. It is important to determine whether hair loss is associated with scalp scarring.
  2. If you have scarring alopecia the causes can include discoid lupus erythematosus, lichen planus, severe fungal, viral or bacterial infection, injury or burn.
  3. The “Pull Test”- a useful ancillary test, approximately 60 hairs are grasped between the thumb, index finger and middle finger, from the base near the scalp, and firmly but not forcefully tugged away from the scalp. If more than 10% or six hairs are pulled away from the scalp, this constitutes a positive pull test and implies active hair shedding. The patient must not shampoo for at least one day prior to this test.
